NLC Statement of Privacy

The National League of Cities (NLC) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Statement of Privacy applies to the NLC website and services; it does not apply to other online or offline sites, products or services. Personal information of all users is collected, used and disclosed as described in this Privacy Policy. 

Collection of Your Personal Information

NLC collects your personal information through voluntary submission through online forms. These forms collect information such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. NLC and its operational service partners do collect and use your personal information to process membership and other relevant payments. 

As part of standard internet practice, we collect the following information when you visit our sites:  

  • Your IP address (a number automatically assigned to your computer when you are using the internet); 
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;  
  • The internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site;  
  • The date and time you visited this site;

NLC offers choices for the collection, use and sharing of personal information. You may notify us of your preferences by going to https://www.nlc.org/contact-nlc/, selecting “Technical Support” as the topic and submitting your request. 

You may also stop the delivery of future promotional emails from NLC by logging into myNLC and updating your email preferences.

NLC is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a secure protocol (i.e., HTTPS) over the Internet when transmitting confidential information such as a credit card number. However, even after we receive personal information from you, we cannot guarantee that your information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a breach of our commercially reasonable efforts or as a result of any other event beyond our reasonable control. Also, please be aware that your email transmissions and/or other communications to NLC containing personal information may be unlawfully intercepted or accessed by third parties and/or this Website may be subject to hostile network attacks or administrative errors. Accordingly, NLC cannot and does not guarantee that your transaction information is completely secure and safe from such risks.

You are responsible for ensuring that the personal information you have submitted or accessed through the website is accurate and complete. You may change the information we have on file for you by accessing your myNLC account. Please contact us immediately if you notice changes to your profile that you did not request or if you notice any suspicious activity concerning your account. NLC reserves the right to modify the Privacy Policy at any time. If there are material changes to this Policy or in how NLC will use your personal information, NLC will post such changes prior to implementing the change.
