Explore the array of financial tools and programs at the federal and state levels. Use the tabs at the top of the dashboard to explore each page. Note that this dashboard includes one-time grant opportunities as well as continuous or annual programs. To see examples of federal and state program solutions in action, visit the Municipal Case Studies page later in the tool.
Federal Programs
While many federal programs are explicitly tailored for housing, some address related areas like infrastructure and sustainability. Consideration of these programs is crucial, as they may offer funding for housing-related projects aligned with specific criteria and objectives. Also included in this section are the federal programs that have states serving as the administrators of funds directed to local governments.
State Programs
States often serve as the administrators for various federal housing funds directed to local governments, though the majority of those programs are listed on the Federal page of the dashboard below. States also allocate financial resources to local governments, such as tax credits and grants, that can advance local housing initiatives.
Using the Dashboard
Use the drop-down menus to select your state and filter programs based on how you’d like to use the funding: for housing production or preservation. Use the program links to learn more about specific program requirements and timelines, as you may need to apply to a program through your state.
