Local leaders are committed to playing a larger role in rebuilding America’s infrastructure collaboratively with our regional, state and federal partners. Transportation is changing and our investments will need to change too. Communities are looking to partner on and invest in the transportation needs and mobility of residents to showcase how we move forward as a nation.

2020 will be a year with big national transportation conversations. Every few years, Congress dust off the nation’s transportation plans and looks at how they can update them to better fund and prioritize what’s needed. The last bill, the Fixing Americas Surface Transportation (FAST) Act of 2016, will expire at the end of September of 2020, and the nation’s transportation Trust Fund could be depleted as soon as 2021 or 2022.

This is the backdrop in which a national conversation about mobility in transportation is happening. Congress needs to set a new vision for the next few years but also a funding strategy that makes sense for the next bill and beyond.
