NLC’s Statement on the Passing of Senator Lindsey Graham

In response to the recent passing of Senator Lindsey Graham on July 11, the President of the National League of Cities, Councilmember Kevin Kramer of Louisville, Ky., released the following statement: 

“On behalf of the National League of Cities, we extend our condolences to Senator Lindsey Graham’s family, friends, colleagues and all South Carolina cities and towns he represented in his more than three decades of elected public service. Senator Graham was known as a champion of the United States’ leadership worldwide, determined in his beliefs and a fierce and relentless advocate for South Carolinians.   

Senator Graham will be remembered by local leaders for his support of local communities, including the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, his work as a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, where he consistently secured funding for projects across South Carolina and for his local government service as a city attorney for the town of Central, South Carolina. We join with the Municipal Association of South Carolina in recognizing his service.”
