National League of Cities Selected as Supporting Partner by America250

Washington, D.C. — The National League of Cities (NLC) has been named a Supporting Partner of America250, the national nonpartisan organization established by Congress to lead the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The designation identifies NLC as the representative for cities, towns and villages, highlighting their unique contributions to mark the 250th celebration.

As the voice of cities, towns and villages for more than a century, NLC was selected for its expertise and expansive reach to help scale and execute America250 programming in the lead-up to July 4, 2026.

“Local governments have always been a part of America’s story. As we mark 250 years of our nation, the National League of Cities celebrates the cities, towns and villages across the country that have delivered for their residents generation after generation,” said Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and Executive Director of the National League of Cities. “Our cities, towns and villages are where we inspire civic pride, strengthen community engagement and where we dream about the next 250 years. We’re excited to be a supporting partner to America250 to shine a spotlight on local governments.”

“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the communities that bring our nation’s story to life every day,” said Jen Condon, Executive Vice President at America250. “The National League of Cities plays a vital role in supporting local leaders and strengthening communities across the country, and we’re proud to work together to engage cities, towns and villages in this historic milestone.”

The partnership was officially announced at the 2026 Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C. More than 2,000 local leaders were in attendance to share how federal priorities impact their communities and talk directly with members of Congress about turning federal policy into real-world solutions for their residents.

Municipalities across the country have already kicked off their America250 celebrations with monthly events, parades, community gatherings and much more. As a partner to America250, NLC will be amplifying the celebrations taking place in local communities across the country, in addition to offering ideas to cities and towns looking for inspiration in the America250 Toolkit: Celebrating Cities, Towns & Villages.
