Washington, D.C. – In response to President Trump signing the Continuing Resolution to reopen the federal government on Wednesday, Nov. 12, the National League of Cities (NLC) President Steve Patterson, Mayor, Athens, Ohio, issued the following statement:
“The National League of Cities (NLC) commends both chambers of Congress for restoring operations across the federal government. Stable, predictable federal funding is crucial to ensuring that every municipality can continue to meet the needs of their residents.
We are encouraged that agency funding has been extended through Jan. 30, 2026, but we need a long-term commitment. We urge Congress to prioritize the needs of America’s cities, towns and villages as it finalizes full-year appropriations.”
