The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is the most comprehensive federal housing package in more than three decades that offers incentives and supports for both the public and private sector to reduce housing costs and expand housing supply. For local governments in particular, the legislation improves existing programs like CDBG and HOME and authorizes several new competitive grant programs for infrastructure necessary for housing, adoption of pre-approved architectural designs, preservation of existing affordable housing, and more.
