4,000 City Leaders and Delegates Convene in Charlotte for National League of Cities 2017 City Summit
This week, city leaders will work with subject experts on topics including economic development, climate change, transportation and leadership development, arming them with tools and resources to plan for the future of their cities and towns. Mayors, councilmembers and city staff will also learn from mobile tours of the city of Charlotte; hands-on workshops; and networking events with fellow city leaders.
The summit is open to credentialed press.

Discussions on Preemption of Local Control: NLC will host a panel of local elected officials and thought leaders to discuss issues surrounding both state and federal preemption of local control on Friday, November 17, 2017. The discussion will include the notorious passage of North Carolina’s HB2 and HB142, which both preempted local decision making in anti-discrimination policies.
My Brother’s Keeper Town Hall: Local leaders will meet with Charlotte youth to exchange ideas and experiences in this unique town hall meeting Friday, November 17, 2017. The session will also serve to launch new resources from NLC’s Race, Equity and Leadership (REAL) initiative, geared to helping local leaders improve outcomes for communities of color.
