City leaders have been essential players in the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid acceleration of the highly contagious Delta variant coupled with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) full approval of the COVID-19 vaccine, presents both opportunities and challenges.
NLC has created a toolkit to help community leaders communicate to residents who have been unable or have been hesitant to become fully vaccinated.
The toolkit was created to support the COVID-19 vaccine partnership between YMCA of the USA and NLC. NLC and the YMCA recognize that vaccinations are the best tool for ensuring cities, schools, and workplaces are open and can stay open, while lowering rates of virus spread and preventable death.
This joint initiative is designed to improve coordination among local YMCAs, city leaders, and public health, and better align the resources needed to address challenges and remove barriers that inhibit vaccine confidence and access.
