In response to a Michigan Department of Civil Rights report on the economic impacts of racial disparities in the city and Forbes magazine listing Grand Rapids, Mich. as one of the worst places for African-Americans economically in the United States, in 2015, Grand Rapids developed a citywide effort to improve racial equity.
