From the Event: Taking the Challenge: Assessing Healthy Housing Needs

The Health and Wellness Team at NLC kicked off this year’s Healthy Housing Local Action Challenge with the first Learning Lab in October. Presentations from our partners at the National Center for Healthy Housing, Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, and ChangeLab Solutions set the stage as we look to support cities addressing housing-related health hazards – like asthma triggers and lead – to ensure healthy, thriving communities for generations to come. Alan Mallach, from the Center for Community Progress, highlighted the importance of truly understanding our environments and conditions to inform strategies for prioritizing healthy housing. Samantha Breslin, from City Health Dashboard, shared examples of local data supporting healthy housing initiatives.
