Local governments are increasingly being asked to evaluate proposals that raise complex questions about land use, infrastructure capacity, water and energy demand, economic development, public finance and community impact. Many cities are responding through new or updated policy tools, including temporary moratoria, zoning changes, development agreements, public engagement processes and large water user protections.
This webinar highlighted how local governments are approaching these decisions in practice. In partnership with AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues (AAAS EPI) it examined the local policy choices communities are making, the tradeoffs they are navigating, and the lessons that can inform other cities, towns and villages.
