Following sharp declines in revenue through the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, municipal revenue sources rebounded in 2021 and 2022. As a result, local governments are more confident in their ability to finance public services and resources than in 2021 and 2020. Despite these gains, abnormally high inflation has nearly wiped out the tax revenues these governments gained in 2021 after the reopening of the economy.
