WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following the shooting in Monterey Park, CA this weekend that left 10 people dead and 10 others injured, National League of Cities (NLC) CEO and Executive Director Clarence E. Anthony released the following statement:

“Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the entire Monterey Park community as they deal with the aftermath of last night’s tragic shooting. While we still don’t know many details about the horrific attack that took place on Saturday night, one thing is clear: the epidemic of gun violence that continues to plague our cities must end. Local leaders have taken important actions to curb this violence, but we need the federal government to do its part by enacting commonsense gun legislation that keeps our communities safe.”
