WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following the racist attack in Buffalo, NY on Saturday, May 14 that left 10 people killed and three others injured, Mayor Vince Williams, President of the National League of Cities, released the following statement:

“My heart goes out to the victim’s families, and my prayers go out to Mayor Byron Brown as he works to heal his city. This weekend’s horrific violence was the latest in a series of mass shootings that have deliberately targeted people based on their race, sexuality, and religion. Local leaders need the federal government to be a partner on this issue, and we no longer have the patience for those who put politics ahead of action. The hate must stop.”
