Washington, D.C. – Following the passage of the INVEST Act in the U.S. House of Representatives, National League of Cities (NLC) CEO and Executive Director Clarence Anthony issued the following statement:

“Passage of the House’s INVEST Act today puts Congress one step closer to rebuilding America’s infrastructure. Cities, towns and villages are ready for Washington to commit to a plan like the legislation passed today to rebuild and connect our communities with better transportation options, safe and reliable water, and internet service that meets today’s demands. NLC will continue to support Congress’ efforts to reach agreement on a comprehensive package that will support local governments’ maintenance of the vast majority of America’s infrastructure while investing in the critical job training that will make it all possible. Congress must focus this summer on getting this infrastructure package done for America’s communities.”
