Vince Micone is a trusted and energetic leader with a proven ability to build coalitions, manage transformational change, and deliver results in complex, multibillion-dollar organizations. He serves as Chief of Staff at the National League of Cities, where he is the CEO’s principal strategic and operational partner—aligning enterprise priorities, strengthening governance coordination, and driving disciplined execution across the organization.

Vince previously served in executive roles across several federal agencies. Most recently, he was the senior career official at the U.S. Department of Labor, serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations with responsibility for human resources, facilities, procurement, civil rights, security, administrative services, and employee safety and health. He also served as Acting Secretary of Labor during the presidential transition.

Earlier, Vince served as Executive Director for Enterprise Services at the U.S. Department of Commerce, COO for a federal law enforcement organization at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and held senior leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs, Senior Counselor, and Chief of Staff. He began his federal career as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Justice.

For more than twenty years, Vince chaired the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area, raising over $800 million for charitable organizations. He is an elected official in Washington, DC, has served as a reserve police officer, and led the District’s Commission on National and Community Service.
Vince is a graduate of Arizona State University (BA) and the University of Southern California (MPA), and serves as a Professor of Practice on the faculty of Arizona State University’s School of Public Affairs.
