Lena Geraghty, Director of Urban Innovation and Sustainability  

In her current role, Lena and her team lead research and provide technical assistance on all things data, technology and the future of cities, ensuring a focus on sustainability, resilience and equity. As access to high-quality, reliable internet has become more of a necessity, Lena’s research has centered on broadband, digital equity and cybersecurity.  

Previously, Lena was the first Director of Innovation and Performance Management for the city of Portland, ME. She was responsible for creating efficiencies and improving processes in departments across the city and ensuring Portland’s position as a smart and sustainable community. Lena also spent several years as a senior advisor for the Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University. She assisted more than 30 local governments in the U.S. and beyond to manage and use their data to make better decisions for their communities.  

Lena has a Master of Public Administration from the School of Government at UNC Chapel Hill, specializing in local government and performance.
