Denise Belser, Program Director, Economic Opportunity and Financial Empowerment

With more than 15 years of capacity building and financial advisory experience in the nonprofit sector, Denise brings unique insight and expertise to her position working directly with municipal leaders to develop innovative programs that expand economic opportunities for children and families. Denise joined NLC in 2009 to develop strategic alliances with the private sector to provide business solutions for cities. She began her professional career in the financial services industry over 25 years ago as a financial manager.  Denise has an extensive background in community development finance, serving as a founding manager of Seedco Financial Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Seedco in New York, focusing on access to credit and innovative small business lending programs in New York, Tennessee, Louisiana, Colorado and Alabama.  Denise holds an MBA from the Wharton School and is a proud alumna of Howard University where she graduated with a BBA in Finance.
