In June 2022 the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the so-called Lemon test. For decades (but not recently) the Supreme Court applied this test to determine whether government involvement in religion violated the U.S. Constitution’s Establishment Clause. Before and while overturning Lemon and announcing a new test the Supreme Court ruled against local governments, which relied on Lemon, in two cases!

Join us September 12th to listen to Charles Rothfeld, Mayer Brown and SLLC alum, in a conversation geared toward state and local government officials about what the Establishment Clause may mean post-Lemon.

Speaker:
Charles Rothfeld, Visiting Clinical Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and counsel at the firm of Mayer Brown in Washington, D.C.
