Each year local leaders must balance community priorities while deciding where revenue will come from to move projects and services forward. Join NLC for a panel discussion that will explore how municipalities can approach tax revenue from the initial proposal to gaining community buy in, by learning from the experience of peers and experts in fiscal policy.

We will welcome speakers from across the country, each with a unique perspective on moving tax revenue forward, to share examples on how cities can structure and use tax revenue. From the City of Nashville’s hospitality tax to support further tourism development and other downtown resources to the City of Lawrence’s recent sales tax increase to support fire, medical, and library services.

This discussion will also highlight how local leaders can evaluate if tax revenue is the best way to move forward. With experts from the Tax Foundation and Brookings Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy providing insight into the broader fiscal impacts, legal and policy constraints, and how to support long term local projects.
At the end of the panel we will have time for an audience Q&A, registrants are welcome to come with questions from your municipalities.
