Youth transitioning out of foster care often face challenges related to housing stability, educational attainment, workforce participation, mental health and social connection. While foster care systems are typically administered at the state or county level, cities play an important role in shaping the conditions that influence long-term outcomes for young people.

Reimagining Local Support for Foster Youth will bring together mayors and municipal leaders from across the country to explore the role local governments can play in supporting youth with foster care experience as they transition to adulthood. Through peer exchange and discussion, participants will examine opportunities for cities to strengthen partnerships, improve access to resources, and advance community conditions that help young people thrive.

This convening is part of the National League of Cities’ ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for children, youth, and families and exploring innovative local approaches to advancing health, wellbeing, and opportunity.

This is an invitation-only event. For more information, contact the Health and Wellbeing Team.
