Municipalities of all sizes are seeking ways to help their families and youngest residents succeed after high school. They are doing this because they know that their community’s long-term success is connected to the financial stability of their residents. For years, the National League of Cities has worked with cities to develop programs that support savings for education after high school and has pushed cities to consider ways they can support these efforts as model employers as well.

With the passage of HR 1, the federal government has developed a new option that city leaders should consider: 530A accounts.

During this webinar, participants will dive into 530A accounts, hear how one city is taking action, learn about key considerations, and have their questions answered in real time.

Speakers:

  • Ray Boshara, Senior Policy Advisor, Financial Security Program, The Aspen Institute
  • Patrick Hain, Program Director, Economic Opportunity and Financial Empowerment, National League of Cities
  • Carl Rist, Council Member, City of Durham
