Parks and Recreation departments play an important role in young people’s lives, but how can cities move beyond offering activities to building an intentional, comprehensive approach to youth development?

This webinar will explore how municipal leaders can strengthen Parks and Recreation programs to support positive youth development and high-quality out of school time experiences. Hear from the City of Douglasville, GA about its journey from primarily recreation and sports programming to investing in year-round comprehensive programming, including what drove the decision and how city leadership supported the investment.

Participants will also be introduced to practical resources and approaches for strengthening program quality, including insights from Positive Coaching Alliance and resources from the Wallace Foundation. The conversation will highlight how cities can build on the strengths of recreation and sports while creating programs that intentionally support young people’s development and opportunities to thrive.
