COVID-19 and the political uprisings that followed George Floyd’s murder brought to light many long standing-issues with our public safety systems. Now is the time to re-imagine public safety in our cities. This forum will highlight best practices and emerging, promising ideas from local leaders through a guided discussion by the MacArthur Foundation and National League of Cities. Participants will share insights and challenges as it relates to public safety with  peers from across the country. Participants will also learn about NLC resources to help inform the development of crucial public safety measures in their own communities. The Forum aims to advance the national dialogue on public safety so that all residents, regardless of their race, wealth, background, or location, have the opportunity to live and thrive in safe and healthy communities.
