U.S. Communities Announces New Public Sector Consulting Contract

The National League of Cities (NLC) is pleased to join U.S. Communities in announcing that Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has been awarded a multi-year contract to provide public sector consulting services through the innovations solutions solicitation. This contract was awarded through a competitive solicitation process conducted by a lead public agency in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Local governments face increasing pressure to streamline operations and reduce costs while simultaneously enhancing services and delivery. Many public entities have already absorbed multiple budget cuts and must do more with less. This contract reflects U.S. Communities' commitment to support the transformation of public agencies that must respond to delivering their missions in the face of constrained resources.

A&M's work as a public sector consultant includes 13 states, multiple cities, school districts and universities. A&M is highly recognized for public sector engagements such as rebuilding and reopening New Orleans' public schools after Hurricane Katrina. A&M brings a pragmatic, hands-on approach that helps government officials accomplish their mission while being prudent stewards of taxpayers' money. A&M public sector consulting services and solutions include:

  • Leadership and Interim Management (strategic planning, communications and change management, and more)
  • Constituent (customer) Focused Transformation (citizen engagement plan, technology-driven customer service solutions, and more)
  • Financial management (developing innovative resource allocation models, financial planning/budgeting, and more)
  • Capital investment and economic development (economic development analysis, public-private partnerships, capital investment, surplus and asset disposition, and more)
  • Revenue maximization
  • Operational efficiency
