Trump on his election as president of the United States. NLC looks forward to working with the Trump administration on programs and initiatives that support local leadership and build stronger communities.
"On behalf of the nation's 19,000 cities, towns and villages, I congratulate President-Elect Donald J. Trump on his victory tonight," said Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities (NLC). "After a long campaign season, it's time to focus on the future and the issues that are important to cities."

"Now we can begin the hard work of addressing the pressing challenges facing communities across the nation," Anthony added. "We look forward to meeting with the president-elect and his transition team and forming productive partnerships his administration."

During the election season, with its Cities Lead 2016 campaign, NLC challenged the presidential candidates to make city priorities — including public safety, infrastructure and the economy — their priorities.
