Reengagement in Dubuque

Dubuque Community School District, Northeast Iowa Community College, and Project Hope use a deployed staff model to ensure Dubuque’s youth have the support they need to successfully complete school.

Staff at Re-engage Dubuque form a support network for the youth they work with. Outreach Specialists contact youth who have left school. Through dialogue and home visits, Outreach Specialists determine what resources the student needs to continue working towards a diploma or GED.

When youth complete the program and decide to pursue post-secondary options, they get assigned to a success coach to support them through community college. Also, Student Needs Facilitators at local high schools refer students at-risk of dropping out to Re-engage Dubuque for services.

Promising Practices

  • Partner with IowaWorks to pair students with job opportunities.
  • Youth get assigned to a Success Coah at the community college for additional support.

2014-2015 Activity

  • Re-engage Dubuque placed 70 youth in an education completion opportunity.
