NLC “Earth Month” Webinar Series Highlights City Leadership in Sustainability

Each year, Earth Day (April 22nd) is a time when communities across the world come together to recognize the need for continued protection of the Earth’s invaluable natural resources.  During the whole month of April, now termed “Earth Month,” residents and city leaders alike commit to celebrating these resources, protecting them with specific actions and celebrating these actions with others.

In honor of Earth Month this April, NLC’s Sustainability Program will be hosting a special webinar series highlighting city leadership in sustainability. Elected officials and their staff are playing a critical  role in advancing social, economic and environmental sustainability in their communities.   This series will celebrate their leadership and innovation during this month of heightened environmental awareness.

Beginning on April 9th and going through April 30th, each Tuesday at 2:00 pm ET, NLC will profile a different city in a 30-minute webinar. Cities will present innovative programs, policies or initiatives that have been critical in moving the sustainability conversation forward in their communities.  NLC will spotlight communities of varied geographies and populations, from coastal towns and small suburbs to small and large cities to show the range of innovative efforts taking place.
