The National League of Cities, in conjunction with the Arizona State University School of Public Affairs, held its second annual 2009 Great Ideas Weekend (league directors winter meeting) in Phoenix, Arizona on January 23-25. Speakers from the ASU School of Public Affairs Faculty and the private sector focused on the art of leadership; new ways to sharpen one's leadership skills; important social, political, economic, financial, communications, and technological trends that are likely to affect the United States and influence the way we do business in the coming decade; and the implications of these drivers of change for local communities, local governments, and the state municipal leagues.
