Save $100 on your Registration fee for the 15th Annual Leadership Summit by writing a 500 to 700 word essay.  Submit your essay with your registration form for the Leadership Summit program and just check off the early bird registration rate.  
 
Please pick one of the following topics for your leadership essay:
   1. What was the biggest leadership challenge that you faced as a newly elected official?
   2. As an elected official, what are the top three leadership challenges facing you in 2007?
   3. How has your role as a leader changed during your tenure as an elected official?

Your essay should be submitted via email to Sara Weiser at weiser@nlc.org.  The deadline is July 15, 2007 for essay submissions to save $100 off the advance registration rate of $795.   It's that easy; that's all that is required.

Q) What do I have to do to get $100 off?
A) Simply submit an essay of at least 500 words on one of the three topics listed above.
 
Q) By submitting an essay do I automatically receive $100 off?
A) Yes. When you submit the 500-word-minimum essay on any of the three topic questions, you automatically will receive the $100 off the current registration rate.
 
Q) Can I write on a topic not listed above?
A) Essays should be on the topic of personal leadership challenges during your time in office, as outlined in the three options above.
 
Q) If I submit an essay with my registration, what do I check on my registration form?
A) If you submit an essay with your registration form prior to July 15th, check off the early registration rate of $695.
    *Reminder: All non-member city participants must add $100 to the registration fee.

Q) If I have already registered at the early rate of $695, can I get a $100 refund if I submit an essay?
A) No, as noted above, the $100 discount is only applied to the advance registration rate of $795.
 
Q) Will my essay be judged?
A) No, essay submissions will not be judged or graded; their purpose is simply to get you ready for an in-depth personal leadership experience at the 15th Annual Leadership Summit.
 
Q) Will my essay be published?
A) The Leadership Training Institute may contact you regarding reprinting your essay in whole or in part in the Nation's Cities Weekly (NCW) newspaper, but essays are not intended for publication.
