Seantae Byers, Senior Executive and Director, Member and Partner Engagement

In her role, Seantae leads the organization’s Strategic Partners, Member Services and Engagement, State Municipal League Services, and Race Equity and Leadership departments. Through her work at NLC, she and her team lead the organization’s connection to 19,000 cities in America.  She is committed to NLC’s mission, “to build better communities,” and is pursuing her passion of ensuring cities are places that provide people with a quality of life that reflects the true beauty of humanity.

Currently, Seantae is leading an organizational initiative to design and develop systems, policies, and frameworks to best support the work of REAL internally and externally, which will assist in developing tools and solutions for members of the National League of Cities. The goal of NLC’s REAL Department is to help local leaders build more equitable communities through providing training that teaches local leaders to normalize, organize, and operationalize their racial equity efforts. The internal initiative focuses on staff development and coordination while strengthening the organization’s capacity to address issues of race and equity in local municipalities. By building relationships with local municipalities, philanthropic organizations, and the private sector she and her team offer opportunities for local leaders to learn, advocate, network, and create solutions that can improve the quality of life for residents in cities, towns, and villages across America.

In addition, to her work at NLC, Seantae is a National Urban Fellow Alum with a master’s in public administration from Baruch College, CUNY.
