As you plan for all the sessions and networking events you'll attend at this year's Congress of Cities, your accompanying spouse or guest to the conference can now plan for their time in Austin too. We have arranged an exciting line-up of tours for guests at the conference, and hope they'll join us to explore some of the gems of this city.
What you hear about Austin is true. With vibrant entertainment and culture, inspiring cuisine and stunning outdoor settings, Austin lets you create a soundtrack all your own. We're home to more than 250 music venues and a vibrant arts scene. So take a look around through the various spouse and guest tours and let the Live Music Capital of the World® create a playlist for you.
The music tour features an inside look at the incredibly diverse Austin music scene and will serve as an introduction to the various entertainment districts as the tour moves through the city. Guests will also hear about some of Austin's history and landmarks.
Would you rather shop? Don't worry there's a tour for that too. Some of the most pristine outlet mall shopping is just a quick 30 min drive south to San Marcos. There are more than 350 stores within the two adjacent malls. Prefer the latest fashions from hallmarks like Neiman Marcus, Barney's New York, or Tiffany & Co., then sign up for the Urban Shopping Tour in the Domain - only a 15 minute ride from downtown Austin.
You can't come to Austin and not experience the delicious cuisine that is all over the city. Austin features everything from food trucks to the best BBQ in the country. Two of the tours are catered toward showcasing mouthwatering, delectable cuisine. The first one will focus on our more than 2,000 food trucks and will include a stop at one of the food truck areas. This tour will also feature historic sites, downtown, and a glimpse of the University of Texas.
The second food tour really is focused on the foodie, and will start at an organic farm for a stroll through an amazing urban farm setting. Guests will receive a private tour of a USDA-Certified-Organic Urban Market Farm found along the city's East side on a farm site that dates back to 1838. After the tour, attendees will enjoy a BBQ feast at County Line, and dessert at Austin's own Amy's Ice Cream.
If you want to experience the history and charm of Austin, then perhaps a visit out to LBJ's Ranch and the Hill Country is more your style. This 8 hour tour will include a picturesque drive into Hill Country and a visit to the homeland of President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Following the visit to the LBJ Ranch, guests will enjoy shopping, leisure and dining in the quaint town of Fredericksburg.
Finally, there are more than 200 vineyards located with 90 minutes of Austin, and the Texas Wine Country tour is the perfect way to get a taste of a few of the finest grapes that Texas has to offer. Guests will visit the Duchman Family Winery and the Solaro Estate Winery.
