Visitors to www.nlc.org will notice new features and a new look as part of an upgrade to the website's content management system that was implemented Thursday evening, July 26.
While the site retains the current design and navigational structure, the new content management system allows for more information to be presented on each page in a more visually appealing way. The home page now includes a list of upcoming events, more news headlines, and graphic links to key NLC services such as the Member Center, the Congress of Cities, and the new Career Center. Internal pages include side bar components which provide visitors easy access to key related content within the site. This will provide visitors with a more streamlined experience as they search for the resources that they rely on and trust.
The Career Center is NLC's new one-stop shop for online job postings for city employment opportunities, replacing the Classified Ads that were printed in the Nation's Cities Weekly. Job seekers can visit the Career Center to search for jobs and to post their resume. Cities can use the Career Center to post jobs, with pricing discounts available to NLC member cities. The Career Center is also the source for information about employment opportunities at NLC.
The updated nlc.org site also provides a direct link to myNLC, the portal for NLC members and all site visitors to conduct business with NLC, such as registering for events, signing up for e-newsletters, and setting personal notification preferences. NLC members can join networking groups and connect with other city officials through myNLC's private social networking tools.
NLC welcomes comments and questions about the new features and the new look. Please send an email to email@example.com with your feedback.
