Given constrained local revenues, declining federal and state aid, obligations to employees and increased needs of residents, cities are under more pressure than ever to deliver fiscally-sound, high quality city services.
The National League of Cities is launching a new Service Delivery Evaluation project. NLC will help municipal leaders provide core services, including police, fire/EMS, water/sewer, roads, and parks/recreation, in ways that reduce costs, improve quality, strengthen customer service and increase accountability and transparency.
NLC will engage a peer network of local elected officials and city staff from 20 cities across the country to explore policies and best practices, challenges and trends in how cities evaluate and make data-driven changes to service delivery.

In addition, the project will result in new research, education and training opportunities, and innovative and proven local strategies will be made available to the full NLC membership.
During NLC’s upcoming Congress of Cities and Exposition in Seattle, interested delegates are invited to attend the peer network kick-off breakfast on Friday, November 15 from 7:00 - 8:00 am. Please RSVP here no later than Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
The conference will also feature a related workshop session, Fiscal Realities, Innovative Solutions (part II), on Friday, November 15 from 10:45am-12:15pm. Participants will engage in interactive roundtable discussions about policy options to evaluate and implement data-driven service delivery decisions.
