Washington— The National League of Cities (NLC) launched its ‘State of the Cities' series today on the organization's blog, www.CitiesSpeak.org. The series will feature seven blog posts that analyze 2013 State of the City Addresses given by mayors and city managers from 30 U.S. cities with diverse populations and geographies.
The blog series provides analysis and commentary on the major trends and themes within these addresses, and highlights the creative ways in which cities are using their local resources to solve challenges, reenergize their social capital and implement innovative policies and practices that build stronger communities.
During the week of March 25th, NLC will publish a blog post each day that reflects one of the five core themes identified throughout the addresses: economic development, public safety, education, infrastructure and municipal finance.
The National League of Cities is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
