NLC Calls for Policy Amendments and Resolutions

July 22, 2013

The National League of Cities (NLC) invites all member cities to submit National Municipal Policy (NMP) amendments and resolutions for consideration as part of NLC's annual policy development process. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 23, 2013.

The NMP is standing policy that reflects the organization's position on federal policy matters and serves as the basis for NLC's federal advocacy efforts. Resolutions address timely issues or specific pieces of legislation and remain in effect for one year only, although they may be renewed or amended from year-to-year.

All proposed amendments and resolutions submitted by the deadline will be forwarded to one of NLC's seven policy and advocacy steering committees for consideration.

Upon further action, voting delegates will consider the committees' work at the Annual Business Meeting during the Congress of Cities and Exposition in November in Seattle.

Proposed policy amendments and resolutions must be submitted in writing to the attention of Carolyn Coleman via e-mail: coleman@nlc.org.

To view the current NMP, go to National Municipal Policy on NLC's website. To receive a copy of the guidelines for submissions contact Carolyn at coleman@nlc.org
