Due to overwhelming demand for Seattle’s mobile workshops at the upcoming NLC Congress of Cities, we have just added a new workshop, “Playing for Savings,” which offers an exclusive inside look at Seattle’s largest, and greenest, sports venues!
Tour the stadiums of the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners, and Sounders FC, exploring how Seattle’s sports facilities are leading the charge to build a more sustainable community. These tours will offer attendees the opportunity to visit the home turf of some of the nation’s leading teams while also learning about the sustainable “green sport” strategies and practices employed by local sports venues.
Professional and collegiate stadiums across the nation are making efforts to improve their environmental performance, and Seattle has served as an example for how environmental gains can also lead to cost savings. Tours of Safeco and CenturyLink fields will also highlight the local partnerships venues are developing to help reach their energy, waste and water conservation goals, as well as how venues are working with the city to continue advancing sustainability initiatives.
At Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners, come see how the Mariners and Safeco Field are leading the way in sports greening. Guests will learn how conservation measures have saved the club over $1.5M and have them fast approaching a 90% waste diversion rate.
At CenturyLink Field, home of the NFC West Division leading Seattle Seahawks, get an up-close look at the 830,000 kWh solar panel array and other ways the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC are cutting energy use, conserving water, and diverting waste from the landfill at CenturyLink Field.
This mobile workshop will introduce municipal leaders to strategies for increasing operational efficiencies within the sports industry, and will offer helpful insight for visitors seeking to create greener, more sustainable communities at home.
Spaces on this mobile workshop will fill up fast. Don’t miss the opportunity to mix Seattle sports with sustainability- register now!
