National Save for Retirement Week: A Time to Focus on Saving

National Save for Retirement Week is October 21-27. The U.S. Congress thinks it's so important that Americans reflect on their personal retirement goals - and determine if they're on target to reach those goals - that the lawmakers designate one week in October to focus on the issues. ICMA-RC, an NLC Capstone Corporate Partner, supports the week and provides online resources to assist employers and employees at www.retirementweek.org. The website features investment basics, details about types of retirement plans, polls about retirement savings, videos about saving and investing, and links to enrollment forms for 457s, 401 plans and IRAs to help get employees started with saving.
In addition to the online resources, ICMA-RC is sponsoring an expanded webinar series with topics for both plan sponsors and participants. In partnership with the Center for State and Local Government Excellence (SLGE), ICMA-RC will host a webinar geared toward plan sponsors to kick off National Save for Retirement Week. The webinar will highlight findings from a recent ICMA-RC sponsored study, Local Government Employment, Benefits, and Retirement Issues, with a focus on local government workforce and retirement trends. The webinar will be held October 18 at 2:00 p.m Eastern Time.
Additional webinars are scheduled for each weekday October 22-26 at 12 noon Eastern Time, hosted by ICMA-RC CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals.
