National League of Cities Applauds Passage of Senate Transpo Bill – Encourages House Passage

March 14, 2012
The National League of Cities today applauded Senators for their strong leadership in passing S.1813 in a bipartisan effort. This multiyear surface transportation bill is a model for the House of Representatives as it provides adequate funding and recognizes the importance of transportation funding to local economic development and vitality.

NLC calls on the House to act and adopt the Senate bill in time for the spring construction season. Infrastructure investment puts people back to work and is key to accelerating economic recovery in our communities.

Senators Barbara Boxer and James Inhofe should be applauded for their great leadership in working to take politics out of the discussion and focus on America's transportation needs.

The National League of Cities is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
