Leadership Academy on Promoting Youth Participation in Municipal Government 

The first ever leadership academy was held in San Jose, Calif., in Nov. 2004. Fifteen city teams of adults and youth were selected through an application process to attend this two-day training session.  The leadership academy featured peer learning and expert presentations on strengthening youth participation in cities and towns.

Regional Conferences on Youth Participation

These conferences are held periodically, for both local officials and youth, and include workshops with local and national experts, networking opportunities, and opportunities to share innovative program examples. 

The most recent regional conference was held in San Jose., Calif., in Nov. 2004.  Over 100 youth and adults from more than 40 cities attended.

Previous regional conferences were in Killeen, Texas (March 2003),  Indianapolisn (May 2003), and Orlando (Feb. 2004).
