Technical Support for Gates Foundation Intermediaries

The YEF Institute is providing technical assistance to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grantees (i.e., intermediaries) that are involved in high school reform initiatives.  The YEF Institute is helping to build linkages and relationships between Gates grantees and their local elected officials and municipal agencies and is providing guidance in the development of city-level strategies.

In addition, the YEF Institute is assisting the Gates Foundation's lead intermediary, The Big Picture Company, in compiling and disseminating major findings and lessons learned through NLC's work among intermediary partners, as well as a broader audience of local, state, and national policymakers, school officials, opinion leaders, policy and academic experts, and the media.

At the national level, the YEF Institute is coordinating efforts to ensure that Gates Foundation grantees can rely on NLC support as they seek to increase the number of diploma-granting, four-year secondary schools utilizing instructional methods that emphasize high-order thinking skills and applied learning opportunities.
