2008 Congressional City Conference Washington, DC
At this year's Congressional City Conference in Washington DC around 100 youth leaders from cities across the country had a chance to learn how federal policies affect their cities and towns. In addition to a wide range of workshops offered, there were a few youth specific meetings including a youth social event with DC youth leaders.
This year youth delegates developed a new initiative to focus on at the local and national level. Positive Initiatives and Goals for America's Tomorrow (P.I.G.F.A.T.) represents the promotion of positive healthy lifestyle choices for youth. These sessions were facilitated by the three youth representatives who serve
on NLC’s Council on Youth, Education, and Families: Devin Smith from Olathe,
Kan.; Katie Ogden from Tualatin, Ore.; and Brad Knight from Hampton, Va.
