Local elected officials serve as first line stewards of the environment. Because pollution respects no political boundaries, municipal officials work in tandem with state and federal officials to preserve, protect and restore environmental quality.
NLC supports the efforts of local elected officials by developing an advocacy platform that protects municipal environmental interests and facilitates their compliance with federal laws and regulations. NLC also provides research on environmental issues, and offers workshops that provide new and updated information, explain new requirements, and elucidate effective compliance strategies.
