ICMA-RC is an independent, not-for-profit financial services and retirement planning corporation that since it?s founding in 1972 has exclusively served the public sector. Today, we manage and administer supplemental 457 and 401 retirement savings plans and IRAs that help build retirement security for 700,000 public sector employees in more than 7,420 active employer accounts. As of September 30, 2006, ICMA-RC total plan assets exceeded $27 billion.
ICMA-RC was the first public sector provider to offer lifestyle funds, providing investors with more flexible investment options. In 2000, ICMA-RC introduced the VantageCare Retirement Health Savings program to help employees and employers meet the growing costs of health care in retirement. In 2005, the company introduced Milestone Funds, target date funds that take the guesswork out of retirement investing.

Under the leadership of ICMA-RC?s President and CEO Joan McCallen, the Vantagepoint Public Employee Memorial Scholarship Fund has led efforts to further the education of 119 children and spouses of public sector employees who died in the line of duty. Since its inception in 2001, the fund has distributed $430,000 in educational scholarships for children and spouses in recognition of the sacrifices made by public sector employees.

ICMA-RC has a long-standing relationship with the students of John F. Cook Elementary School in Washington, DC. Over the years, associates have volunteered thousands of hours to mentor and tutor under-privileged children, held fundraisers and promoted corporate donation drives to provide students with computers and educational materials.

ICMA-RC associates participate in the Washington, DC metro area So Others Might Eat (SOME) program, regularly volunteering their time to feed the hungry in our area. They also participate in local Coat and Food Drives, and programs that aid the poor such as Bread for the City and the House of Ruth in Washington, DC.
