HELO 2016 Annual Leadership Retreat

This year's HELO Summer Conference will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All NLC members and colleagues with an interest in Latino issues in their communities are welcome to attend.

About the Conference

Attend this year’s Annual Leadership Retreat to:

  • Learn about issues in special seminars that help to expand your skill sets

  • Adapt community arts programs as best practices for your community

  • Attend the HELO Board of Directors Meeting

  • Find solutions to challenging problems in your hometown

  • Consider becoming a future leader in HELO and NLC

Why you should attend

The meeting will include discussion forums about HELO’s mission and work objectives with NLC and its strategic plan, as well as municipal issue sessions that offer creative solutions for local leaders on topics such as financial literacy, minority small business development, Hispanic Chambers of Commerce activities nationwide, and internet and broadband access for communities.

All NLC members and colleagues with an interest in Latino issues in their communities are welcome to attend.

Training Seminar

There will also be an NLC University skills training session. Access to training and networking opportunities is a benefit of HELO membership.

Mexican Fiesta: Be Part of the Tradition

Mexican Fiesta, August 26-28, brings the sound, culture and taste of Mexico to Milwaukee’s lakefront.  It's three days of fun, food, Mariachi, and fiesta for everyone.  Each HELO member registrant of the conference will receive a complimentary pass to this weekend event. View the 2016 entertainment line-up!

About HELO
Established in 1976, and celebrating its fortieth anniversary with NLC in 2016, the Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO) constituency group was created to serve as a forum for communication and information exchange among Hispanic local government elected officials and NLC colleagues. HELO also provides training and information services to its members.
