The NLC Prescription Discount Card Program that began in January 2009 now has over 600 cities across the country helping residents with the high cost of prescriptions. Nationwide, the NLC program has saved city residents more than $10 million to date.
With the endorsement of NLC, Build America Mutual (BAM) provides cities and towns not only access to municipal bond insurance that will facilitate their financing and reduce their costs, but also the unique benefits of membership in a mutual insurance company.
NLC honored the City of Clarksburg, W. Va., for being the first city in the country to save residents more than $1/2 million on the cost of their prescriptions through the NLC Prescription Discount Card Program. The total savings to residents of Clarksburg as of June 15, 2012 was $510,697.
NLC soon will celebrate two years of offering the NLC Service Line Warranty Program to cities and their residents. Since the program launch in the fall of 2010, more than 130 cities have offered the water and/or sewer product to nearly two million households.
The City of Seattle joined the NLC Prescription Discount Card Program to help provide residents with some relief from the high cost of prescription medications.
