Formed in 2007, the Municipal Network for Combating Obesity (MNCO) provides tools and resources to help local officials reduce childhood obesity in their communities through policies that promote active living, healthy eating and access to healthy, affordable foods.
The network is made possible by the support of Leadership for Healthy Communities, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Membership
More than 450 members participate in the network, including local elected officials, senior municipal staff, school superintendents, senior school district staff, and other policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and national partner organizations. This network is open to all municipal officials who are interested in joining. An MNCO steering committee guides the network's activities and focus.
Benefits
Bi-monthly e-newsletter: Members of the MNCO network receive bi-monthly e-newsletters that highlight YEF Institute resources, showcase promising city efforts, spotlight strategies for promoting active living and healthy eating, and include additional resources, research, and relevant news items.
