Transitional Jobs Project 2005 - 06

In partnership with the National Transitional Jobs Network, the Center for Employment Opportunities in New York City, and the Transitional Work Corporation in Philadelphia, the YEF Institute helped seven cities design transitional jobs programs, which are paid, temporary employment with wrap-around services for people with significant barriers to work.

The 2005-06 Transitional Jobs Project was supported by the Joyce Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts. Project cities included:

  • Boston, Mass.;
  • Indianapolis, Ind.;
  • Las Vegas, Nev.;
  • Newark, N.J.;
  • Oakland, Calif.;
  • Peoria, Ill.; and
  • Scranton, Pa.

Through this 18-month technical assistance initiative, municipal leaders in each of the seven project cities worked with local partners to provide subsidized employment opportunities for hard-to-employ residents.
