Corporate Citizenship

Southwest Airlines is proud to support qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organizations within the communities we serve, especially those that fall within our areas of strategic focus. Last year, Southwest Airlines received 14,968 donation requests and distributed more than 25,663 tickets and $1,266,950 in cash in response, for a combined value of more than $11.6 million in total contributions.

We champion causes that matter most in the communities we serve by developing relationships with nonprofit organizations on both a local and national level. Building these relationships involves committing our resources of time, tickets, and love to be your hometown carrier that cares. You'll also find Southwest Employees volunteering across the country, as well as serving on local, state, and national boards to assist nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions.

We believe volunteers are crucial to the health of nonprofit organizations that work to meet needs in our communities. Our Employees volunteer their time day in and day out for the important causes that are closest to their hearts. In 2009, Southwest Airlines Employees volunteered more than 45,000 hours to charities across the country. In an effort to support these passionate Employee volunteers, Southwest Airlines launched the Tickets for Time program. For every 40 hours our Employees volunteer for a nonprofit organization, the benefitting nonprofit organization is eligible to receive one complimentary, roundtrip ticket on Southwest Airlines for fundraising or transportation needs.
